What Is a Nuru Massage? How It Works and What It Costs
Nuru is a body to body massage performed on a waterproof mat, using a thick, odourless gel made from nori seaweed.
What makes it different
The gel. It is far more slippery than oil, and that is what allows the full body contact the technique is built around. It also means a shower before and after, and a mat on the floor rather than a couch.
What to expect
Ninety minutes is the sensible minimum. The setup takes time at both ends, so an hour leaves very little massage in the middle.
What it costs
Above the standard massage rate, because of the mat, the gel and the time. Expect a premium of £50 or more over a straight hour.
